A Glimpse into History: Vintage Newspapers Arrive at Black Dragon Comics!

Hey comic fans and history buffs! We've got something a little different, but incredibly exciting, to share with you all today. Here at Black Dragon Comics, we're always on the lookout for unique treasures, and we recently stumbled upon a real find: a suitcase packed with vintage newspapers, some dating all the way back to 1906!

The bulk of this incredible collection consists of the San Francisco Chronicle, but we also have a few editions of the Los Angeles Times and the Oakland Tribune. We know many of you appreciate the historical significance of original print media, and these papers offer a fascinating window into the past.

Now, about their condition – it's a mixed bag, as you might expect from items over a century old! Some have the typical folds and creases that come with age, and a few even have pencil or pen notations where someone was clearly taking notes or marking important articles. We're going to be listing all of them as Fair Condition to set appropriate expectations.

Our team is currently doing some research on eBay to get a better sense of their market value. Once that's done, we'll begin the process of getting them all photographed and uploaded to our website for you to browse.

But here's the truly exciting part: during our initial glance through the stack, we've already spotted some incredible headlines! Imagine holding a piece of history in your hands with reports on:

  • The 1906 San Francisco Earthquake

  • The 1989 San Francisco Earthquake

  • The JFK Assassination

  • Richard Nixon Resigning

  • The Invasion of Normandy

And that's just what we've seen so far! There are undoubtedly many more historical events waiting to be rediscovered within these pages.

Keep an eye on our website and social media channels for updates on when these fantastic pieces of history will be available. We can't wait for you to explore them!
