We use Shopify for our store, which provides a report that helps us gauge our fulfillment processing speed. This report allows us to adjust the estimated delivery dates you see at checkout and in your order confirmation emails. By doing this, we aim to set realistic expectations to avoid any surprises.
Factors Affecting Processing Times
Several elements can influence how long it takes to process your order. Here are some key ones:
- Order Volume: A high influx of orders can lead to a temporary backlog, slightly extending processing times.
- Holidays: During busy holiday seasons, processing times might increase due to the surge in orders.
- Carrier Delays: Unfortunately, issues beyond our control can arise with our shipping carriers (USPS and UPS) that can delay package pick-ups or deliveries.
A Recent Hiccup: When Summer Heatwave Met AC Woes
As an example of an unforeseen event, our usual pick-up and drop-off location for USPS and UPS experienced a malfunctioning AC unit during a recent heatwave. This forced the location to close earlier than usual, impacting our ability to drop off packages and the carriers' ability to pick them up. These types of situations can slow down the processing timeframe, which is reflected in the Shopify report we use to update our estimated delivery times.
Our Goal: Speedy Deliveries
Our goal remains to process all orders within 12 business hours of receiving them. While we strive for this target consistently, unforeseen circumstances may occasionally cause slight delays.
